FAQ

What people ask most about the audit, the radar and the content line.

Will the audit affect my website?

No. One audit makes at most 30 requests, one at a time, at least a second apart, and only fetches public pages.

What is generative engine optimization (GEO)?

GEO is the work of making your content easy for AI search engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews to find, use and cite. It rests on SEO basics: crawlers can get in, content is in the HTML, and claims are true and sourced. We only do white-hat work: no fake reviews or rankings, and no posting on third-party platforms.

Who is behind Citeloop?

Citeloop is a product of Sunyears, Inc., which builds and runs it. Our guides are by Tony Huang: every one is checked against official documentation and reviewed by him before it is published.

What does a GEO audit check?

Whether AI crawlers can reach and read your site: whether robots.txt allows each AI crawler, whether a CDN sits in front of the site, whether content is in the HTML, plus titles, structured data, sitemaps, hreflang and llms.txt. Every issue comes with the evidence we saw and how to fix it.

Why should I care about AI crawlers?

More and more people get their answers straight from AI. If an AI crawler cannot reach or read your pages, that AI cannot cite you.

How do you tell whether AI crawlers can get in?

We read your robots.txt and your pages, then request a few pages using each crawler’s name for comparison. CDNs such as Cloudflare recognize real crawlers by signature and IP, so those comparisons are only hints. Our conclusions rely on your CDN settings and logs, Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console.

Do you promise rankings, or that AI will recommend you?

No. We do not control how any AI answers. We fix technical problems, write real content with sources, and report the results honestly every week.

Are articles from the content line published automatically?

No. Every article lists its sources and is published only after you approve it, and only on your own website. We do not post on third-party platforms for you.

Which languages do you support?

English and Chinese. For English sites we look at Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity; for Chinese sites mainly Bing, ChatGPT and Copilot.

Are audit reports public?

No. Report pages are private and not indexed unless you agree to publish them.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

It is worth adding, but do not expect a ranking boost. It can help some AI tools find your key pages, yet it is only a community proposal: Google Search says it ignores the file, and OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity have not said their crawlers read it. Make sure AI crawlers can reach your pages first.

How do you get answers from each AI?

Only through each provider’s official API. We never automate any AI’s website or app. API answers can differ from what you see in the app, so each week we also check a sample of questions by hand and report how often they match.
